The Trump Administration Files Appeal to DACA
August 7, 2018, 5:47 p.m.
Yesterday, the Trump administration filed their notice of appeal to last week’s ruling that reinstated DACA.
DACA (Deferred Actions for Childhood Arrivals) was going to be reinstated at the end of the month barring an appeal. U.S. District Court Judge John Bates gave the Justice Department twenty days to decide if they would proceed with an appeal, and they wasted no time. This matter is likely to end up at the U.S. Supreme Court.
Jeff Sessions immediately spoke out against the Court’s ruling.
“The last administration violated its duty to enforce our immigration laws by directing and implementing a categorical, multi-pronged non-enforcement immigration policy for a massive group of illegal aliens.
“The Trump administration simply reestablished the legal policies consistent with the law.” — Attorney General Jeff Sessions
