When President Trump started his tariff war, on my motorcycle website (mcatty.com), I wrote numerous articles on how this would affect Harley Davidson.
Of course, Trump supporters felt the need to correct me in not so nice ways and apparently, common sense was confused for my dislike of President Trump. What ended up happening?
A small battle started between Harley Davidson and President Trump, and even Harley riders were talking about not riding Harley anymore if there were going to be made overseas.
News flash: Harley Davidson has been making motorcycles overseas for years, but as I always say; Trump supporters tend to avoid the truth.
Now, Harley Davidson posted double digit losses this quarter because of the absurd tariff war and Congress is now responding, from both sides of the aisle.
Congress wants to limit the president’s power to levy import tariffs for national security reasons
The bipartisan legislation known as the Bicameral Congressional Trade Authority Act would require Trump to have congressional approval before taking trade actions like tariffs and quotas under Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962.
Currently, the President can impose the tariffs without approval from Congress. Republican Senator Pat Toomey is a co-sponsor of the bill.
