Before lunch and some fast food, more on that later, grab that piping hot cup of coffee to warm up, add some sugar to wake up, and let’s review the headlines for the day.
Got Fast Food
With the government shutdown and the First Lady and Second Lady not making salads for the National Champion Clemson Tigers (yes President Trump actually said that), the President treated them to about $11 worth of fast food. No seriously.
“Clemson championship team, the national championship team, will be coming tonight and it’ll be exciting. Very great team, unbelievable team. They’ll be coming tonight. And I think we’re going to serve McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Burger Kings with some pizza. I really mean it. It will be interesting. And I would think that’s their favorite food. So we’ll see what happens. But they’re coming tonight, the national champions, subject to the weather.”
While the President wants to take credit for feeding top athletes with junk food, the reality is because of the government shutdown, there was no one there to make them any meals.
I Never Worked for Russia
So- the President says.
First and foremost, try wrapping your brain around the fact that a President of the United States had to actually answer that question.
Of course, the yes or no question by Jeanine Pirro in his Fox News interview wasn’t answered so quick and easy, but now Trump said “I think it’s a disgrace that you even asked that question because it’s a whole big fat hoax.”
“It’s just a hoax.”
When questioned by Jeanine Pirro, Trump had said “I think it’s the most insulting thing I’ve ever been asked. I think it’s the most insulting article I’ve ever had written, and if you read the article you’ll see that they found absolutely nothing.”
But, he didn’t answer the question until now.
Then President Trump said Michael Cohen’s in-laws should be investigated, no word yet on what made up crime, but that resulted in House Democrats advising Trump that witness tampering is a crime.
Trump Visits Tennessee for the Farm Bureau Convention
Actually, President Trump went to the Farm Bureau in New Orleans but in a tweet that he has since deleted, he said Tennessee. He was greeted by chants of “lock him up.” Seems like political karma rearing its ugly head.
The Government Shutdown Will End..
Your guess is as good as mine. But President Trump will never back down.
“When it comes to keeping the American people safe, I will never, ever back down.”
President Trump now owns the longest government shutdown in history at twenty-five days.
Steve King Gets Slap on the Wrist
Steve King who is about five minutes away from walking the halls of Congress with his Klan robe on, will get sanctioned by Republicans. For now, it seems he will lose a seat in the Judiciary Committee. Meanwhile, the most racist man in government is Donald Trump and Republicans just cover up his acts.
I would also point out that Rep. Jim Jordan filed ridiculous and frivolous Articles of Impeachment against Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, but King…
William Barr to Protect Mueller
Attorney General nominee William Barr will start his confirmation hearing today and he already has said, “on my watch, Bob will be allowed to complete his work.”
Remember, Barr sent an unsolicited memo opposing the Mueller investigation. He can’t be right both times. Time will tell.
“I believe it is in the best interest of everyone — the President, Congress, and, most importantly, the American people — that this matter be resolved by allowing the special counsel to complete his work. The country needs a credible resolution of these issues. If confirmed, I will not permit partisan politics, personal interests, or any other improper consideration to interfere with this or any other investigation.”
I believe at this point Special Counsel Mueller’s investigation is safe because we know too much already, and no one can take the steps of ending the Russia probe. I had written a few months ago that Mueller’s greatest achievement so far was not getting fired, and I still stand by that statement.
