It’s Monday, so we always need some coffee to get our motor running, so grab your favorite mug, fill it to the rim, and let’s go over today’s news.
Day 16! Is there an end in sight? Not if you are to believe President Trump who continues to say he will not back down. Even worse, Trump “feels” your pain.
“Mr. President, can you relate to the pain of federal workers who can’t pay their bills?” a reporter asked Trump outside the White House on Sunday.
“I can relate,” the president responded. “And I’m sure that the people that are toward the receiving end will make adjustments, they always do. And they’ll make adjustments. People understand exactly what’s going on.”
“Many of those people that won’t be receiving a paycheck, many of those people agree 100 percent with what I’m doing.”
President Trump has even made false claims that mostly Democrats aren’t getting paid in the shutdown, which implies that Republicans are. Smh!!!
The part that should worry everyone is that President Trump multiple times has said that he is ready for the shutdown to last years if need be. Now is a good time to talk once again about the 25th Amendment. Especially after new reports have the “border wall” rhetoric as nothing more than a trigger for Trump’s memory.
Another Trump Official Quits
Kevin Sweeney, the Pentagon chief of staff has resigned. In a post on the Department of Defense website, Sweeney said:
“I’ve decided the time is right to return to the private sector. It has been an honor to serve again alongside the men and women of the Department of Defense.”
Sources told CNN that Sweeney was forced out. Think about it. As in the section below- the border wall is a national emergency and Sweeney quits just like that? That’s no coincidence.
The Border Wall is a National Emergency
Hurricanes. Floods. Wildfires. Now you can add building a wall to that list of natural disasters.
Per President Trump, he is considering declaring a “national emergency” to get his precious 16th century wall.
Senator Elizabeth Warren Hits the Campaign Trail
Senator Warren is already putting feelers out there for the 2020 Presidential campaign and that means one thing: petty insults from President Trump.
President Trump is not only re-tweeting racist tweets about Warren’s ancestry, now Rep. Matt Gaetz is doing the same with a new nickname for the Senator: Sacawagea. Let me remind you- these are grown educated men acting like this.
Ocasio Cortez Calls Trump a Racist
In an interview with CBS’s 60 Minutes, Anderson Cooper asked the following:
“Do you believe President Trump is a racist?” Cooper asked.
“Yeah, yeah, no question,” Ocasio-Cortez replied.
“When you look at the words that he uses, which are historic dog whistles of white supremacy. When you look at how he reacted to the Charlottesville incident where neo-Nazis murdered a woman, versus how he manufactures crises like immigrants seeking legal refuge on our borders, it’s night and day.”
