First FBI Probe, Now Impeachment for Judge Kavanaugh
A can of political worms has been opened for Brett Kavanaugh, President Trump’s pick for the Supreme Court. As a result, President Trump has ordered a one-week FBI investigation of the Supreme Court nominee and the allegations made by Christine Blasey Ford of sexual assault thanks to a vote of conscious by Senator Jeff Flake.
“This country is being ripped apart here, and we’ve got to ensure we do our due diligence.” Senator Flake.
Now, it is being reported that the FBI has already contacted Kavanaugh’s second accuser, Deborah Ramirez, which means there’s no doubt they will also reach out to Julie Swetnick who is being represented by Michael Avenatti.
The FBI investigation has to be detailed, meticulous, and every lead has to be followed.
But, this will not end with the FBI investigation for choir boy Kavanaugh. Regardless of what the FBI investigation uncovers, Kavanaugh is unlikely to be prosecuted even if he was the average Joe. But, he’s got another problem: his job as an appellate judge.
Let’s not forget that even if Kavanaugh withdraws his name for nomination or President Trump does it for him, he still has a job for life as a federal court judge.
Thus, regardless of any steps that Republicans take to push Kavanaugh through, he will face impeachment whether on the nation’s highest court or the appellate court. What does this mean for Kavanaugh and the Republicans?
Well, like the Democrats did to former Senator Al Franken, Kavanaugh should take one for the team.
Once the allegations against Kavanaugh came out, I predicted he was a goner, but, he’s still hanging in there and promised not to quit in his opening statement. But, this isn’t just about Kavanaugh seeking to enter the exclusive club of Supreme Court justices; this is about politics.
If the Republicans continue to push Kavanaugh down our throats, it could be political suicide for them. There is a dark cloud hanging over President Trump’s allegations by women of sexual assault, and now his Supreme Court nominee. How many more voters are Republicans willing to lose, especially women?
There’s one more thing to consider: President Trump “never loses,” so he has to find a way out and the FBI investigation may be his answer. As contradictory as the President is since the FBI is part of the deep state, if the investigation results in Kavanaugh’s withdraw, you know he will start up with the deep state rhetoric.
