Governor Jerry Brown Stops Offshore Drilling
With the Trump administration having plans to open ninety percent of the country’s coastline to offshore drilling, Governor Jerry Brown of California passed two laws to prohibit pipeline construction.
The bills signed by Governor Brown were SB 834 and AB 1775 and covers the entire California coastline and extends three miles offshore.
“Today, California’s message to the Trump administration is simple: Not here, not now. We will not let the federal government pillage public lands and destroy our treasured coast.” Governor Jerry Brown
The move by Governor Brown may eliminate offshore drilling in California because it doesn’t make it cost effective for oil companies.
