Happy Hour Headline News- Rosenstein, Bill Cosby, Register to Vote
As far as I am concerned, Happy Hour started already. So, have a drink or two, and let’s review the headline news for today.
Say it Ain’t So, Rod
In today’s world, everything seems to be “breaking news” even if it is insignificant, but, there is no doubt that Rosenstein getting fired by President Trump is breaking news.
In an effort to get a jump on the story, word was Rosenstein was fired or he quit. Turns out he’s safe for now, but there is one story that I hope to be 100% false.
Word is Rosenstein is afraid of retribution and Twitter attacks by President Trump. Really Rod? For the sake of the country, you should be more afraid of a constitutional crisis and the rule of law than President Trump’s Twitter feed.
If you don’t believe me, go on his feed and see how many people are on there that are not afraid of him.
The Cosby Show
Every so often you have to break from tradition as I am with this subject. I tend to focus on other areas of law not related to crime or criminal justice, mostly political analysis, but with Bill Cosby escorted out of the courtroom in handcuffs, denied bail, and sentenced between three to ten years in prison, I can’t ignore this headline.
I have no mixed feelings about his conviction, regardless of the fact that I loved watching Cosby even dating back to the Fat Albert days. It is what it is and no one is above the law. That term has been thrown around lately as it relates to President Trump, but we are facing a legal and constitutional crisis daily, so it’s great to see the system work regardless of fame and fortune.
It’s even more refreshing to see women with a powerful voice.
President Trump is the Joke of the Day
Speaking before the United Nations General Assembly, Trump patted himself on his back with lies by saying “in less than two years, my administration has accomplished more than almost any administration in the history of our country.”
The reaction? Laughs.
It’s open mic night at the Improv and first up, Donald J. Trump.
National Voter Registration Day
Today is National Voter Registration Day. Get out, register, and vote!
Have a good one. See you in the morning with Coffee and Headline news.
