Per Florida Highway Patrol and 4 News Jax, three people were seriously injured in a head-on collision in Fleming Island.
The accident occurred between two pickup trucks on U.S. 17 at Town Center Boulevard.
According to the report, David Pulliam of Jacksonville was driving northbound on U.S. 17 in his GMC Sierra pickup truck when he lost control and crossed into the southbound lanes colliding head-first into a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck driven by Larry Tode and passenger Connie Tode.
The police report reads that Pulliam was not wearing a seat belt.
When it comes to wearing a seatbelt, note that not wearing one could affect any possible settlement that arises out of a lawsuit.
In Florida, the “comparative negligence” standard is used which means the percentage of responsibility caused by you, gets reduced from your overall settlement.
For example: let’s say you it is determined that you are 30 percent responsible for your injuries and that your settlement award is $10,000. Your settlement could be reduced by $3,000.00 or 30 percent.
