Heartless Donald Trump, Jr. and Mollie Tibbetts

More than a week ago, Iowa college student Mollie Tibbetts’ life came to a tragic end. Tibbetts was murdered according to authorities by Cristhian Bahena Rivera, a migrant farmworker from Mexico who was charged with first-degree murder.

President Trump and his inner circle immediately took advantage of Tibbetts’ murder to push their immigration agenda.

In a country where everything is now politicized, murder is no different, regardless of respect to the family of the victims. In this case, Tibbett’s father is speaking out publicly.

This isn’t the first time, nor will it be the last time, that Donald Trump, Jr. makes outrageous claims against Democrats, blaming Mollie Tibbett’s death on Democrats.

Rob Tibbetts, Mollie’s father, in a column with The Des Moines Register responded to Trump, Jr. and those using Tibbetts’ death to advance their own immigration policy.

“–do not appropriate Mollie’s soul in advancing views she believed were profoundly racist.”

He also was also critical of Democrats and encouraged the immigration debate. “Unfortunately, Mollie was not the first casualty of the left’s love for open borders. The radical policies of the Democrats have left a trail of human wreckage in pursuit of their open borders dream.”

Mr. Tibbetts did praise Vice President Mike Pence by saying he has “–proven genuinely compassionate and humane.”

Mr. Tibbett even apologized to the Hispanic community for being “beset by the circumstances of Mollie’s death.”

“The person who is accused of taking Mollie’s life is no more a reflection of the Hispanic community as white supremacists are of all white people.”

Mr. Tibbetts’ stepdaughter is Latin.

The sad part, dealing with the death of one’s own child is a pain that is not comparable to anything else. On its own, the wounds are cut deep and take a lifetime to heal, if they ever do. No family deserves to have a child’s death politicized for senseless gain.

It’s disrespectful to the victims and their families that have already had to endure more than they should. Families should be allowed to grieve in private. It’s a lesson every politician and citizen should learn.
