Here We Go- Government Shutdown 2.0

After the longest government shutdown in history at thirty-five days, a temporary agreement has been reached to fund the government until February 15th.

What are the odds that by then President Trump will have funding for his racist border wall? Slim to none and slim just left town, which means part deux is coming.

Even President Trump said the odds of an agreement are “less than 50-50.”

“I personally think it’s less than 50-50, but you have a lot of very good people on that board,” – President Trump.

Yes, Trump keeps changing the narrative, at times saying it’s not a wall, but his childish new rhyme indicates otherwise: “Build a wall and crime will fall.”

Then there is White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney who has crossed the line long ago of lacking empathy for the 800,000 employees who didn’t collect a pay check for more than a month.

Mulvaney continues to do media rounds and pushes the idea that another government shutdown is possible as well as declaring the border wall a national emergency. An idea that even Marco Rubio opposes.

Not only do I believe that declaring a national emergency will get nowhere since it gets tied up in the courts forever, it will set a precedent that Democrats will surely take advantage of. Just imagine when a Democratic President declares gun control a “national emergency.”

Even worse, Mulvaney expresses doubt on a long-term deal with DACA recipients and the border wall funding. Realistically, without a reasonable DACA deal on the table, it is unlikely that any funding would be provided.

Now, President Trump may be continuing to bluff his way into an agreement, but that begs the question why? It’s already proven that he cannot intimidate Democrats, so he is only hurting federal employees by creating more stress and anxiety.

The last thing you want is 800,000 federal employees with low morale and a distrust of government.
