What is the deal with Paul Manafort? Maybe as I’ve written before, Manafort prefers prison over freedom because he would not live to see another day if not for solitary confinement.
This week, Special Counsel Robert Mueller filed a heavily-redacted court document that shows how Manafort has continued to lie to federal investigators.
Manafort was lying as he was negotiating a plea deal for his second trial that was to be held in Washington, D.C., but those negotiations were quickly terminated.
At the last hearing, the judge requested “underlying evidence” to support Mueller’s claims. Be careful what you wish for.
In violation of his plea agreement, Manafort continued communicating with the White House. In addition, Manafort is also accused of lying about his interactions with Konstantin Kilimnik, a longtime business associate whom the Special Counsel has identified as a former Russian intelligence officer.
Last week, Manafort’s attorneys failed to properly redact a pleading which showed that Manafort was providing polling data to Kilimnik and the Russians.
Special Counsel Mueller’s report can be seen below.
