Maria Butina’s Guilty Plea is Bad for Her Boyfriend
Imagine if your Russian girlfriend who is much younger than you, much better looking than you and by the way, you are flat broke so she is not with you because of your money, is tied into Russian oligarchs, and we just finished a campaign where Russia has meddled in our elections.
On top of that, you are a former GOP treasurer and for kicks, what do you do when she gets arrested for being a Russian spy?
Well, you go visit her regularly in jail!
That’s what Paul Erickson did and for that, he will pay the price with a loss of freedom and lot’s of money spent on attorney’s fees. His stupidity alone deserves jail time, but it gets better.
Because Butina pleaded guilty last week for acting as a foreign agent and now she has to talk, she’s talking about Erickson.
Did he actually expect anything different?
Even worse, per Butina’s plea deal, she said that Erickson helped her draft what was called the “Diplomacy Project” which was a road map to establishing communications between Russia and the United States.
Let’s use common sense here for a second. Butina is a 30 year old grad student, who by the way took classes in cyber security. What possible legitimate communications can she establish?
Erickson, and use your imagination on how Butina convinced Erickson to commit his acts of treason, stated in her plea deal that they worked together “to arrange introductions to U.S. persons having influence in American politics.”
Tied into making those contacts is the NRA which is being requested by the Senate to produce documents.
How the NRA is likely to survive this scandal is beyond me, and their financial struggles are well documented.

One more thing: FBI investigators found a note in Erickson’s home that he claimed was a joke that read “how to respond to FSB offer of employment?” The FSB is Russia’s intelligence agency.

Just another member of the Republican party tied into Russia, but supporters like to focus on Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez because she is a Democratic Socialist. Meanwhile, Putin and Russia has pitched a tent in our backyards.

GOP Boyfriend of Maria Butina Gets Target Letter
Maria Butina, called at times the Red Sparrow, is the alleged Russian spy that is currently in solitary confinement, but is now cooperating with prosecutors. Her boyfriend is Paul Erickson, a former GOP treasurer.
Erickson has received a letter known as a “charge letter” or a “target letter” which explains to him that he may be charged for acting as a foreign agent under Section 951 of the U.S. code, basically working as an agent of a foreign government. Erickson may be the first American ever to be charged under Section 951.
Erickson for reasons that I cannot fathom, continues his close ties with Butina, visiting her in jail regularly and even presented a video of him and Butina singing “Beauty and the Best” as a way to prove his relationship is real. What an idiot.
Lawyers for Erickson have already told the Senate intelligence committee that if asked to testify, he would plead the Fifth Amendment.
