Meghan McCain Done Right by her Father and the Country

Let’s face reality. The President should have never said that John McCain is not a war hero. The fact that he did, then Trump should have apologized if not then, then now as McCain nears his final resting place at the Naval Academy in Annapolis.

President Trump wasn’t invited to any of McCain’s services, Barbara Bush’s funeral, or the Royal Wedding, and rightfully so. But, the nation continues to be divided worse every minute, and the President has done nothing to bring the country together. How bad is it? That verbal jabs have to be made at President Trump at McCain’s funeral by multiple people to remind the country who we are as a nation. The latest; Meghan McCain.

At her father’s service today, Meghan said:

“America does not boast because she does not have need to. The America of John McCain has no need to be made great again, because America was always great.”

“The America of John McCain is the America of the boys who rushed the colors in every war across three centuries knowing that in them is the life of the republic.”

“John McCain was defined by love. Love defined my father. I miss him so badly.”

“Dad, I love you. I always have.”

How long now before the internet trolls start attacking Meghan? There is even a hashtag on Twitter called the #johnmccainisdeadparty. Disgusting, cowardly fools no doubt.

Meghan’s eulogy was power and directed at President Trump. And you know what, she has the right to honor her father and protect his name, reputation, and accomplishments.

Meghan McCain went on to say: “we gather here to mourn the passing of American greatness.”

“The real thing, not cheap rhetoric from men who will never come near the sacrifice he gave so willingly, nor the opportunistic appropriation of those who lived lives of comfort and privilege.”

I challenge you to see the eulogy without shedding tears. Meghan’s powerful eulogy is a voice for women everywhere, especially as women are running for public office more ever than before.

Meghan has my vote, and I’m not even a registered Republican. Then again, the decision for me has always been easy; country over party.
