Miami Dolphins defensive tackle Kendrick Norton who also played for the University of Miami Hurricanes, suffered “very serious” injuries in a car crash early Thursday morning that resulted in the amputation of his left arm.

Details of the accident are not fully known, but Norton was driving a black 2017 Ford F250 westbound on State Road 836 near State Road 826 when the accident occurred at about 1:18 a.m.

Per the Florida Highway Patrol, Norton’s truck crashed into the concrete barrier, then flipped over, coming to rest on its roof.

Norton was transported Ryder Trauma Center.

Another vehicle was involved in an accident, a gray 2015 Maserati that was driven by Jessie Pena, but he did not suffer any injuries.
