Michael Flynn Stays Out of Jail

Michael Flynn probably woke up yesterday arrogant and cocky as always, thinking he had beaten the system.

As a former National Security Adviser and decorated general with a very lucrative consulting gig lined up, who cares about a felony or two. Life is good. Record scratch! Sorry for the eighties reference Millennials.

U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan made his position clear yesterday at Flynn’s sentencing hearing. When referring to Flynn’s actions, he said “arguably, this undermines everything this flag over here stands for. You sold your country out.”

Flynn did, to the highest bidder, in this case Turkey and Russia.

Then Judge Sullivan mentioned the “T” word; treason. Judge Sullivan asked if Flynn’s conduct “rises to the level of treasonous activity?” Mueller prosecutor, Brandon Van Grack replied treason charges were not considered. Judge Sullivan repeated his question:“could he have been charged with treason?”

Now, to be clear, Flynn didn’t just lie to the FBI. He was an unregistered agent as mentioned by Judge Sullivan and as I wrote about in my post below.

“All along, you were an unregistered agent of a foreign country while serving as the national security adviser to the president of the United States.”

Take a moment to let that sink in because that is not a lie or an exaggeration. Flynn’s actions are arguably treasonous and the penalty for treason could be the death penalty. Again, let that sink in.

President Trump appointed Flynn as the leader of our nation’s security. The same person who was paid $40,000 to give a speech in Russia for state t.v. and sat next to Putin. He’s a traitor!

Flynn is lucky to be spared charges of treason and he’s lucky Judge Sullivan continued the case until March 13 because Flynn was about to get serious jail time.

If there is a silver lining in all this, is that whatever games Flynn was playing since his attorneys filed a response to Mueller’s sentencing memo questioning the validity of the FBI’s interview of him, this, even after Mueller recommended ZERO jail time, is that now it is clear to Flynn that Mueller owns him.

Flynn has three months to give more information, and he most definitely will.

As to political Karma- don’t forget who led the “lock her up”chants.

Former Associates of Michael Flynn Plea Guilty

Bijan Kian and Kamil Ekim Alptekin are former associates of Michael Flynn that have been charged with lying to federal agents and not registering as foreign agents. See a pattern yet? But, it gets better, they were involved in a plot to extradite Turkish cleric Fethullah Gulen to Turkey where he is a target of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Flynn, in an incredibly idiotic move, wrote an op-ed for The Hill where he compared Gulen to Iran’s Ayatollah Khomeini. Remember, part of Flynn’s lies to FBI investigators were about his contact(s) with Turkish officials. The op-ed is mentioned in the indictment.

Flynn is referred to as “Person A” in the indictment. Again, remember that Special Counsel Robert Mueller has requested that Flynn does no jail time because of his “substantial assistance.” The timing in unsealing the indictment sure is coincidental with Flynn being sentenced today and the Judge requesting the FBI’s 302 (notes) of their interview with Flynn as accusations have been made by President Trump.

Below is a tweet today by President Trump wishing luck to Michael Flynn, a convicted felon with ties to Russia. Think about that.

“Good luck today in court to General Michael Flynn. Will be interesting to see what he has to say, despite tremendous pressure being put on him, about Russian Collusion in our great and, obviously, highly successful political campaign. There was no Collusion!”

Kian and Flynn were business partners in the Flynn Intel Group.

In the indictment, prosecutors state that Kian and Alptekin “conspired covertly and unlawfully to influence U.S. politicians and public opinion concerning a Turkish citizen living in the United States whose extradition was then being sought by the Government of Turkey.”

“The defendants sought to discredit and de-legitimize the Turkish citizen in the eyes of politicians and the public, and ultimately to secure the Turkish citizen’s extradition.”

“Although the Government of Turkey directed the work through Alptekin, the defendants sought to conceal Turkey’s involvement in the efforts to discredit the Turkish citizen.”

Together, Kian and Alptekin hid the Flynn Intel Group’s work for Turkish officials by using Alptekin’s company as its client rather than the Turkish government. The Turkish government was the real client and approved the budget as well as received regular updates.

The campaigns were named the “Truth Campaign” and “Operation Confidence.”

In addition, Kian and Alptekin lobbied an unnamed member of Congress, a congressional staffer and a state government per the prosecutors’ filing, which means more indictments may be coming.
