My Car Went Out of Control- Hit and Run

Earl Lewis from Homestead, Florida, appeared in court, accused of killing a father and son in a hit-and-run crash. In court- he said “My car went out of control!” Because of Lewis’ admission, he placed himself at the scene of the accident.

Lewis is now in jail with a $600,000 bond in part, because when he was arrested, he blurted out to the arresting police officer he should have fled to Jamaica, making him a flight risk. The victims are Cesar Eduardo Cepeda and his father, Jose Eduardo Cepeda Luna.

The accident occurred at 5 a.m. on the Dolphin Expressway. The father and son were on the side of the highway when Lewis lost control of his 2014 Chevrolet Camaro, crashing into them. Police believe that believe Lewis got rid of the Camaro and then stole the victim’s Chevy Equinox which was found abandoned in Homestead.

Lewis’ DNA was found in the deployed airbag of the Chevy Camaro, plus his blood inside the Chevy Equinox.
