No Pay Raises for Federal Employees Plenty of Money for Golf
“Build that wall.” “Build that wall.”
How much is the price tag for the wall again? Let me jog your memory- $25 billion.
How much does President Trump’s golf outings cost? By some estimates, $77 million on the low end and if the costs are as estimated at $1 – $3 million per golf trip, well, at maybe 155 rounds of golf, do the math.
By the way, taxpayers aren’t only paying for the golf trips, President Trump is making money off his trips. Why? It’s simple.
Secret Service needs to follow the President around in golf carts if he’s golfing. Even two days ago TMZ wrote an article that looking at expenses obtained from the government, the Secret Service has spent $300,000 + on golf cart rentals, from the President’s own golf course.
Secret Service also needs to drink water, eat food, and have a place to sleep. You think they stay at the Holiday Day Inn down the road or at Lago Mar? You think President Trump is giving away free rooms at Lago Mar and free steaks?
So, we pay for golf which to be clear, I don’t have a problem with any President playing golf, even though the hypocrisy of Trump saying he wouldn’t have time to play golf and he is about to play more golf in four years than President Obama did in eight, but making money off it while we lose money?
But, with all that being said, if you are a federal employee, kiss away that new car or down payment on your new home because 1.8 million federal employees will not get their 2.1% pay increase.
I was being sarcastic by the way, because even at $100k a year, that’s $2,000 more a year or $166 more per month.
Per President Trump, “federal agency budgets cannot sustain” the fiscal impact of a 2.1 percent pay increase. Tell you what, and by the way, I suck at math- but based on my calculations and I don’t pretend to have graduated at the “top of my class” at the Wharton School of Business (President Trump didn’t either and that’s been proven countless of times before already), let’s figure this out.
$25,000,000,000.00 (costs of the border wall) /1,800,000 (federal employees) = $13,888.88 pay raise per employee.
Now you can go buy your new car or house since that averages out to $1,157.40 per month per federal employee across the board.
We’ll talk about Flint, Michigan and clean water some other day.
