McClatchy, the parent company of the Miami Herald, filed for bankruptcy, most likely because of its pension obligations.

McClatchy’s pensions obligations stem from the fact that for every active employee, there are ten employees receiving a pension, up to 24,000 former employees.

There was also 80% revenue drop in advertising between 2006 and 2018.
