President Trump’s Lies Addressing the Nation

Last night the President addressed the nation, and there was a simple reason why the Democrats wanted to be able to respond to his statements; because he was going to lie.

Let’s go over those lies.

Lie #1: The Border Crisis

What crisis? It’s completely fabricated! There is no emergency, even though President Trump flirted with the idea of declaring a national emergency at the border to obtain funding for the wall.

I predicted he would not do that, and he even skipped on using that terminology all together last night.

The fact is, the majority of illegal immigration takes place through ports of entry. The country doesn’t need a wall, it needs a roof. This, besides the fact that immigration has been dropping in numbers for years, and I’ve written about that in my own experiences with clients relocating to other countries or their own, especially when the economy collapsed during the housing crisis.

Lie # 2: “Last Month 20,000 Migrant Children Were Illegally Brought into the U.S., a Dramatic Increase.”

Per DHS, the Department of Homeland Security, smuggling of children is less than 1 percent!

Claim #3- The Border is a “Pipeline for Illegal Drugs”

Per the DEA, “transport the bulk of their drugs over the Southwest border through ports of entry (POEs) using passenger vehicles or tractor trailers. The drugs are typically secreted in hidden compartments when transported in passenger vehicles or commingled with legitimate goods when transported in tractor trailers.”

Basically, it’s not some guy with a backpack! Here is the DEA National Drug Threat Assessment.

Lie #4 Mexico is Paying for the Wall

No need to elaborate on this one.

Lie #5 – The Concrete Wall- At Some Point in Time

We are done with the border wall as a solid concrete structure. The President said yesterday it will be a “steel barrier.”

There goes his first and foremost campaign promise. The play on words started at least a week ago as Trump called the wall everything but a wall.

In addition, it should be noted that the Democrats are not saying they prefer a “steel border fence,” that’s why they keep calling it border security.

Lie #6- Senate Democrats Voted Before for Border Barriers

Yes. It is 100 percent true that Democrats have voted in the past for barriers, starting with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and there’s a long list of more Democrats. But, they voted for the Secure Fence Act of 2006.

The title is clear- fence, NOT wall!

And again, there is a huge difference, especially when considering the environmental impact of a wall, the second to none engineering feat it would require, and the costs!

Lie #7 – Terrorists Crossing the Border

Here is a lie that has been spread by President Trump and his administration from day one, especially numerous times saying that there were individuals of “middle eastern” descent and terrorists in the migrant caravan. Remember the migrant caravan?

The statement has never been backed up with evidence. But, in the last few weeks

it has gotten worse, even White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders has joined in by repeating the same lies on Fox News.

Sanders claimed that 4,000 “known or suspected terrorists” crossing the southern border were caught. Again, there’s no fact to back this up, and at a minimum, it is an extremely misleading statement.

Data from Homeland Security obtained by NBC showed that only six people in any terrorism database had been stopped during that time period.

The 4,000 number refers to “special interest aliens,” which means individuals from “countries of interest.” These would include individuals who who applied for a tourist visa, but were denied. So, they never even left their country, nonetheless cross the border. But, it gets better.

Per a study by the Cato Institute, during a ten year period between 2007 and 2017, the majority of “special interest aliens” were Indians and Brazilians, and per the study, guess how many people have been killed by any terrorist suspected of crossing the border? ZERO!

But, let’s depend on the stats released from the Department of Stat. In 2017, there was “no credible evidence indicating that international terrorist groups … sent operatives via Mexico into the United States.”
