President Trump’s Nationalist Hypocrisy
President Donald Trump declared himself a “nationalist” during his rally for former foe and now BFF Senator Ted Cruz.
“A globalist is a person that wants the globe to do well, frankly not caring about the country so much. You know, we can’t have that. You know what I am, I’m a nationalist.”
Of course, the cult followers started chanting “USA! USA!” chants.
Trump’s response: “use that word.”
I don’t remember any prior President calling himself a nationalist, but I could be wrong. Trust me, I’m not.
While campaigning for Senator Ted Cruz, President Trump officially declared himself a “nationalist.”
What seemed like decades ago since the Trump presidency is timed in dog years, there was a Senator from Illinois named Barack Obama. Like comedian Chris Rock said, Obama isn’t hiding his blackness. I was more intrigued that this black Muslim socialist was running for office.
The girl I was dating at the time told me she was voting for this Muslim socialist and I asked her how could she considering his background. She was a reporter for a Spanish television network so she was informed of who Obama really was, and explained to me the fake news associated with him. I then did something Trump supporters rarely do; I researched.
I read multiple books on President Obama, every article I could find, along the way learning about the Koch brothers, and realized what this smear campaign was all about. Of course, I knew about fake news like the National Enquirer, but back then social media was becoming popular and people began sharing memes as a source of news, fake flyers, etc.
Now, Obama has been out of office for two years and there are still people saying he is a Muslim socialist, and some still believe he was born in Kenya. I actually have one of those believers in my family. Actually, I think the “socialist” part has been dropped since most people are at least smart enough to realize that Obama failed at being a socialist, especially with that nonsense of taking away your guns, so for now he is still a Muslim. There’s no proof of him being a Muslim, but those are just details.
Next on the list, Florida candidate for Governor Andrew Gillum who now people believe he is an anti-cop socialist. Here’s my question- you accept at face value with zero research that Obama is a Muslim socialist, but what if Obama said he was a Nationalist, even though the only thing missing is the word “white” before “nationalist.”
The reality is, most people had no clue, maybe still don’t, what a Nationalist is, but President Trump said it, so it must be okay. And while President Trump may think he knows the definition of being a nationalist, he obviously lacks the understanding of how the word and concept is interpreted on a national and global level.
Let’s drop some names:
- Adolf Hitler
- Benito Mussolini
- Fidel Castro
- Muammar Gaddafi
- Yasser Arafat
- Rodrigo Duterte- (who Trump loves)
- And of course, Vladimir Putin.
If there is a list of people you don’t want something in common with, it would be this list.
And this is the part that Trump supporters will not understand: if you love Trump and think his policies are amazing, great. I get that. What I don’t get is the hypocrisy, the double standard, and the inconsistency to suit your narrative, better yet, your tribalism.
Go back to being a kid many moons ago when you first heard the phrase what is good for the goose, is good for the gander. Now apply that same saying to your adult life.
