Bipartisan Senate Bill to Be Introduced to Protect Special Counsel Mueller

With bipartisan support from Democrats Cory Booker and Christopher Coons, along with Republicans Lindsey Graham and Thom Tillis, a Senate bill will be re-introduced to protect Special Counsel Robert Mueller from being fired whether by the Acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker or William Barr if he gets confirmed.

“However, I also believe this bipartisan legislation is good government policy with enduring value across the current and future administrations,” said Senator Tillis.

House Democrats had introduced a similar bill last week. The only issue is whether Senator Mitch McConnell will continue blocking bills as he had done before, even with Senators from his own party like he did with former Senator Jeff Flake.

Acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker Playing Games

It’s sad to see the Justice Department playing the same games I’ve seen in my own cases when it comes to trying to subpoena someone or scheduling a hearing, but such is the norm in the Trump administration.

The Democrats want Acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker to testify, but the Justice Department is looking to delay his testimony until next month. Why? Because hopefully by then William Barr is appointed as Attorney General. Barr does have confirmation hearings scheduled for next week.

The Justice Department is saying that because of the shutdown and Barr’s schedule, they are unable to have him testify until next month. Democrats want to question Whitaker about his role in supervising the Special Counsel Mueller investigation.

If Whitaker continues to seek delays, House Democrats will have no choice to but subpoena Whitaker, which is something they should have done by now.
