Senate Actually Passes a Resolution that the Media is Not the Enemy of the People

I admit, that title will make you look twice and it’s just another blog I can post that could start with “things you don’t see every day.” But, it’s true.

Earlier today, I posted an article on how nationwide, the media was striking back against “fake news” and “the media is the enemy of the people” rhetoric by President Trump.

In backing up the unity of the media, so did the Senate.

Today, the Senate actually passed a resolution affirming that “the press is not the enemy of the people.” Think of the symbolic message that our Congress, both Democrats and Republicans are sending to President Trump.

The resolution was introduced by Senator Brian Schatz of Hawaii, a Democrat, and passed unanimously.

Every day I’m shocked by this administration and what we are witnessing, and yet, this is another example. Of course, President Trump tweeted earlier today another attack on the free press.

“There is nothing that I would want more for our Country than true FREEDOM OF THE PRESS. The fact is that the Press is FREE to write and say anything it wants, but much of what it says is FAKE NEWS, pushing a political agenda or just plain trying to hurt people. HONESTY WINS!”

Is it funny or ironic that the President is tweeting about “honesty?”

The Boston Globe started the media initiative with more than three hundred fifty media outlets writing editorials. Again, more tweets. But, why stop when you are behind?

“The Boston Globe, which was sold to the the Failing New York Times for 1.3 BILLION DOLLARS (plus 800 million dollars in losses & investment), or 2.1 BILLION DOLLARS, was then sold by the Times for 1 DOLLAR. Now the Globe is in COLLUSION with other papers on free press. PROVE IT!”
