The White House just revealed the theme of the President’s State of the Union: “choosing greatness.” One excerpt was released as well with the address scheduled for tomorrow.
“Together we can break decades of political stalemate, we can bridge old divisions, heal old wounds, build new coalitions, forge new solutions and unlock the extraordinary promise of America’s future. The decision is ours to make.”
While the President calls for unity, he works to cause divisiveness.
In an interview with “Face the Nation,” President Trump said Nancy Pelosi is dangerous for the country.
A few days earlier he tweeted that Democrats are for open borders and crime and late term abortions as he continues to say it’s not a wall but his third grade slogan is “build a wall and crime will fall.”
But, after two years of Trump’s presidency, the State of the Union theme should more reflect the reality of the Presidency: chaos and corruption.
Within ten days of the State of the Union, the temporary agreement on the border wall expires and it doesn’t look like a deal is any closer to being done.
We just got out of the longest government shutdown with thirty-five days, only for President Trump to accept the same offer that was given to him from the beginning. So, it was all for nothing.
President Trump keeps saying he is going to call the border wall a “national emergency” and there is talk that he may make that announcement tomorrow at the State of the Union.
Republicans are praying that Trump doesn’t, but don’t put it past him as he takes center stage and makes one last ditch effort to satisfy his base.
This, regardless of the fact that within five minutes of him declaring a “national emergency,” Democrats will oppose it in court pleadings, resulting in getting nowhere fast.
But, Trump may give it a shot as a way to try to show to his base his stance hasn’t changed after his failed negotiations against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

In addition, three days after Trump’s union address, the Democrats will hold their first hearing on the strategy of obtaining his tax returns.

Democrats would have done it much sooner, but Republicans took four weeks to assign positions, a delay no doubt done on purpose. What is coming after that? Well, you know how the right likes to call us “snowflakes?” Put a lot of snowflakes together and you have an avalanche.
A blizzard of subpoenas will await Trump and his staff, which definitely has them on edge as it seems the Mueller investigation is getting closer and closer to the President.
Two days after the address, Michael Cohen will be testifying before Congress with multiple committees. Maybe House Speaker Nancy Pelosi chose this week for a reason.
