The Noose Just Got Tighter on Trump

As I’ve said before, the Democrats are only getting started.

The House Intelligence Committee is now expanding their investigation into President Trump, and it goes beyond Russian interference in the 2016 election.

Remember that “red line” Trump said couldn’t be crossed if investigations looked into his business dealings and finances?

Well, the Democrats led by Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee Adam Schiff erased that line this week with a blizzard of subpoenas and replaced it with a blue line of their own.

Come Friday, the Democrats in the House will hold a vote on the next steps on obtaining President Trump’s tax returns.

Now, Schiff said the investigation will include “the scope and scale” of Russian intervention in the 2016 presidential election, and the “extent of any links and/or coordination” between Russians and Trump’s associates, whether foreign actors have sought to hold leverage over Trump or his family and associates, and whether anyone has sought to obstruct any of the relevant investigations.

The full blown attack is a “follow the money” approach as even prosecutors in Maryland have issued a subpoena for financial disclosure documents on Trump’s golf course in Scotland.

In addition, thanks to former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen, federal prosecutors in Manhattan have also issued subpoenas on President Trump’s inaugural committee.

At issue is straw donors and donations from foreign individuals and entities.

Cohen was scheduled to testify today before the House Intelligence Committee, but that was postponed as of yesterday per Chairman Adam Schiff.

The reasons aren’t known entirely at this time, but as Democrats hand over testimony transcripts to Special Counsel Robert Mueller, Schiff expands his investigation. Has Cohen provided additional information about Trump’s finances?

Maybe Trump should have never said in his State of the Union address “ridiculous partisan investigations.” Some people never learn.
