Three Car Accident Fatalities Over July 4th Weekend

Per Clay Today News, there were three fatalities over the Fourth of July weekend.

One accident involved Michael Cummings from Fleming Island. It is believed that Cummings may have suffered a heart attack while driving, resulting in his car cutting across the median and crashing into the vehicle being driven by Herbert Robertson of Jacksonville. Robertson doesn’t seem to have been injured per the report.

The accident occurred on U.S. 17 in Orange Park.

Marcel Mendez from Orange Park man was killed in a car accident when his SUV ran off the shoulder at the University of North Florida exit.

There will be an event hosted called “Miles for Marcel” on July 27 at noon at the Oakleaf Athletic Center on 370 Oakleaf Village Parkway in Orange Park.

Jeanette Hars from Starke was killed when she crashed head-on into a tractor on County Road 214 at Austin Road.

The Florida Highway Patrol stated that Hars failed to negotiate a curve and veered into the eastbound lane, striking a tractor that was traveling on the shoulder.

The driver of the tractor as reported by FHP, had serious injuries.
