Trump Appoints Climate Denier to Climate Security

The proposed Presidential Committee on Climate Security will be headed by National Security Council senior director William Happer.

Because intelligence agencies have argued that climate change will be a threat to national security, the committee is being created.

This seems more like an attempt by President Trump to shut up Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats who has been receiving the brunt of Trump’s attacks as of late.

“Global environmental and ecological degradation, as well as climate change, are likely to fuel competition for resources, economic distress, and social discontent through 2019 and beyond,” Coats said.

Happer believes carbon dioxide is actually beneficial for the environment, something we all learned in third grade that it isn’t. In addition, Happer is not a climate scientist and has been associated with groups that are skeptical of climate change.

As I wrote yesterday, Trump surrounds himself with those not qualified for the job, but those on the same page as him.

President Trump’s pick for Deputy Attorney General Jeff Rosen has zero experience as a prosecutor, unlike current Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein that was a career federal prosecutor.

“We’re doing our best to try and counter this myth that CO2 is a dangerous pollutant,” Happer said at a 2016 energy and policy summit funded by the conservative Heritage Foundation.

“It’s not a pollutant at all. . . . We should be telling the scientific truth, that more CO2 is actually a benefit to the earth.”

In a 2014 interview with CNBC, Happer said the “demonization of carbon dioxide is just like the demonization of the poor Jews under Hitler,” adding that “carbon dioxide is actually a benefit to the world, and so were the Jews.”

Yes, he actually compared the Holocaust to carbon dioxide.
