In his crazy, rambling two hour speech at CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference), President Trump now claims his statements about hacking Hillary Clinton’s emails was a joke!
“I’ve learned, because with the fake news, if you tell a joke, if you’re sarcastic, if you’re having fun with the audience,” Trump said. “If you say something like ‘Russia, please if you can, get us Hillary Clinton’s emails, please, Russia, please, please get us the emails.’”
Now, the first thought that should cross your mind is since when is asking a foreign enemy government to hack the emails of a United States government official funny?
Two, and more importantly, Trump is changing the narrative. Why? Because he realizes that will be interpreted as obstruction of justice and you will see Trump walking back or explaining many of his past statements thanks to Michael Cohen’s testimony last week before the House Oversight Committee.
Of course, the idiotic and broken record chants of “lock her up” continued and Trump continued to slam the media, especially CNN.
“So everybody is having a good time, I’m laughing, we’re all having fun. Then that fake CNN and others say, ‘He asked Russia to go get the emails. Horrible,’ These people are sick, and I’m telling you, they know the game and they play it dirty, dirtier than anybody has ever played the game.”
I look forward to the fact checkers, better yet, Robert Mueller, providing video clips of interviews and campaign rallies where Trump said his joke over and over again since it only took Trump two years to come up with this explanation.
