Weekend of Mass Shootings in Jacksonville, Florida

Two mass shootings occurred this week in Jacksonville, Florida.

On Friday night after a high school football game, three were shot and one was killed. This comes as public schools started two weeks ago, including for the students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.

And now, just hours ago, a second mass shooting occurred during a “Madden NFL 19” video competition. There were multiple fatalities.

Police so far are saying eleven people were shot and four were killed. The mass shooting took place at Jacksonville Landing, an open-air marketplace along the St. John’s River.

The victims, three of them were shot once and three other victims were shot more than once according to a UF Health Jacksonville representative.

One media outlet is reporting that after a gamer lost, he started firing shots then killed himself.

Updated- the shooter did kill himself. His name is David Katz. His motive is unknown at this time.

This is another senseless shooting where politicians offer their prayers, but nothing else gets done. President Trump still hasn’t tweeted about the shooting on Friday nor the Jacksonville Landing shooting.

Meanwhile, Education Secretary Betsy Devos is considering using federal funding to arm public school teachers.
