Why Are There Still Kavanaugh Confirmation Hearings

Yesterday was day two of the confirmation hearings for Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. Anything come out of it important like how will he rule on a Presidential subpoena? No, but he did do the mambo around that line of questioning. At least for now, Kavanaugh says that Roe v. Wade is settled law.

But, here is my question- why are confirmation hearings still taking place? It’s not enough that Republicans did not provide 100,000 pages because President Trump said not too under the veil of Executive Privilege, another way of saying abuse of power?

How about dumping 42,000 pages the night before the first day of the hearings? By my estimate, that’s like reading 105 books in one night.

Now, let’s jump into our time-machine. Former attorney for President Trump- Michael Cohen, in open-court stated that Trump is a co-conspirator. Trump is officially an un-indicted co-conspirator and you can bet your last dollar if Cohen named you, you would have been picked up by the FBI in less than twenty minutes. But, it gets better.

Bob Woodward of the Carl Bernstein and Watergate fame, his new book “Fear” confirms that those within Trump’s own administration are worried about the President’s mental state. Yesterday, the anonymous op-ed piece in the New York Times written by a “senior official” also brings into question the President’s mental state and the 25th Amendment.

And if that is not enough, just look at President Trump’s Twitter feed and his public appearances which should also result in questioning his mental state.

Back during the cocaine cowboy days in Miami, a group of judges were busted in what was called Operation Court Broom. Judges in cahoots with defense attorneys, were lowering the bail on drug dealers and took a cut, while the drug dealers paid their bond in cash and skipped out of town. You know what happened to cases those judges presided over? They were appealed. Only makes sense legally and logically.

Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearing is no different than the corrupt judges in Operation Court Broom. His hearings should not be going forward until the investigation of President Trump is complete. But then again, the Republicans and the GOP play by their own set of rules. You don’t have to look any further than Merrick Garland.
