Why Worry- Christine Hallquist

who is the governor of vermont, vermont election results
Hello world! Christine Hallquist, LGBTQ gubernatorial candidate for the state of Vermont.

Why Worry- Christine Hallquist

There is a song by Dire Straits that I love, its lyrics timeless and more applicable today than ever when it comes to politics.

Why Worry- Dire Straits

Baby, I see this world has made you sad
Some people can be bad
The things they do, the things they say

Christine Hallquist Vermont Gubernatorial Candidate

Christine Hallquist is breaking every political barrier you can think of, but we’ll start with being the country’s first transgender governor. Only one word needed- “f-in awesome!” Okay, that’s two words.

Hallquist will bring much needed recognition to the LGBTQ community and all I will say is it’s about damn time. We can all thank President Trump for Hallquist and the Blue Wave. Why?

Because “there should be laughter after pain. There should be sunshine after rain. These things have always been the same.” So, Dire Straits was correct: “So why worry now.” Something good has to come out because of Trump, and we are seeing and experiencing it.

And before you roll your eyes or shake your head in disbelief, Hallquist is no slouch. She was a former CEO for Vermont Electric Cooperative, one of the largest utility companies in the state.

Hallquist’s platform? Renewable energy. Check. Medicare for all. Check. Minimum wage at $15 per hour. Check. Racial inequality with the criminal justice system. Check.

She’s even backed by the Justice Democrats who worked on Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign. Check.

“This is not a time in American history to sit back and be apathetic. We must be bold in the face of the headwinds from Washington, we must be bold in the face of continuing unpredictability from Congress, and we must be bold in the face of the chaos from the White House.”

One more thing- why worry? We got this.
